Official from ETS India Discusses Key Format and Strategy Changes for the New TOEFL

 Introduction: 

The TOEFL is a standardized test of English language proficiency for undergraduate and graduate admissions to English-speaking universities. The test is developed and administered by ETS, a non-profit organization in the United States.

The new TOEFL iBT is scheduled to be released in July 2023. It will have a number of changes, including: 

  • A shorter listening section with 30 questions instead of 40. 

  • A new speaking section with 8 tasks instead of 6. 

  • A new writing section with 2 tasks instead of 1. 

  • A more integrated format, which means that the reading, listening, and speaking sections will be more closely linked. 

ETS India Official, Mr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, recently gave an interview to reveal important changes, format, and strategic tips in the new TOEFL. 

Changes in the Listening Section: 

The new listening section will have 30 questions instead of 40. This means that you will have less time to answer each question. The questions will also be more challenging, as they will require you to understand more complex information. 

Changes in the Speaking Section: 

The new speaking section will have 8 tasks instead of 6. This means that you will have more opportunities to practice your speaking skills. The tasks will also be more challenging, as they will require you to speak for longer periods of time and to discuss more complex topics. 

Changes in the Writing Section: 

The new writing section will have 2 tasks instead of 1. This means that you will have more time to write each task. The tasks will also be more challenging, as they will require you to write more complex essays. 

More Integrated Format: 

The new TOEFL will have a more integrated format, which means that the reading, listening, and speaking sections will be more closely linked. This will require you to use your English skills in a more holistic way. 

Strategic Tips for the New TOEFL:
