Why GMAT Error Log is Important to Boost Your Score – GT Prep

What is an Error Log?

The error log is a record of errors by the candidate who attempted the GMAT practice test. It gives a clear view of what questions are wrong and why those answers are chosen.

Create an Error log manually or use the built-in error log and link it with the GMAT test. Follow the error log format in a spreadsheet for better tracking and understanding the common mistakes by GMAT Test-takers.

Why GMAT Error Log is important?

1.      Aware of careless Errors

Mistakes are common for anyone. But this should be because of less knowledge of the given question. Careless errors need attention and an error log is the best way to find out those. Sometimes, due to poor time management in GMAT or hurry causes silly mistakes. With an Error log, it is easy to avoid them.

2.      Extra Focus on the Concept

While logging the errors and the reasons for those mistakes, it will help to dive inside the concepts. Because practicing just the questions will not let the candidates learn the concepts. These errors can be an alarm to learn the concept.

3.      Weakness Diagnosis

It is easy to find the weakness. The topic or the section where the candidate is scoreless marks in GMAT, then those can be the weak parts. Or if there are many questions unanswered, it shows poor time management. Working on the weakness is one of the best ways to score 720+ on the GMAT test.

4.      Reason to pick the wrong answer

After making a mistake, if one knows why that mistake is done, isn’t that making your job easier? Know the reason and why chosen that answer, to not to repeat the same mistake. Most times the way of answering is correct but it’s not correct for the question asked.

5.      Learn to avoid mistakes

The main reason behind the error log maintenance is to learn not to repeat the same mistakes. Noting them down and focusing a little more will help these in the next test and avoid them. This ultimately helps in boosting GMAT scores.
